Pap "Ain't you a sweet scented dandy, though? A bed and backcloths and a look'n glaze and a piece of carpet on the floor-And your own father got to sleep with the hogs in the tanyard I never see such a son.I bet I'll take some'o these frills out o'you before I'm done wit you .Why there ain't no end to your airs"(ch.5 p.15,par 6
Look at you trying to look all fancy with your bed and carpet and fancy clothes while I'm living with animals . I will never have a son smarter than me and have better clothes and a better home than I have. I'll take a lot of good things out of your life before I'm finished with you.
This quote means that his father was jealous of him and did not want him to succeed more than he was. Their relationship was very unsteady and his father is to lazy to fix up his life. He can't stand to see his own son do good so he takes it out on his son because his life is a mess.
Mark twain thinks that Huck Finn's father is good for nothing and is just Trying to control his son's life and make him miserable because that is how his father feels because his son is doing so well and he is stuck in his ways as a drunken old man. There relationship is disastrous and the father is very abusive. Mark twain may have Incorporated some of his own life into this book. Maybe Mark twain 's father was abusive or a drunken old man and he used part of the book to tell about his own life.
